It is with deep regret we report the passing of Bill Woods

 In Statements

In later years Bill had suffered ill health which had restricted his visits to Cardiff Arms Park but on the occasions of these visits it was apparent that he was held in the highest regard by members, players, and Committee alike.

For many years Bill acted as “rub a dub ” man for Cardiff Youth, Cardiff under 20s and Cardiff RFC following the formation of regional rugby.

Bill was a true force of nature and when he was organising fund raising for the Youth team in particular it wasn’t a question of whether you were buying a ticket it was how many you would bring with you.

After hanging up his sponge Bill devoted his time to serving on Cardiff RFC Committee and Cardiff Athletic Club Management Committee until ill health forced his retirement.

Bill leaves a wealth of stories from all those who knew him and even at this sad time I am sure that the mention of his name will bring a smile when recalling some silly comment or action.

Our thoughts and deepest sympathy go to Carol and Bill’s family. Bill is no longer with us but will never be forgotten by those of us who had the privilege of knowing him.
